For Father's Day, you can easily make these bourbon pickled green beans! Finally a gift for Dad that he will love! These are also great for a Bloody Mary garnish!
Here's the recipe and instructions!
Bourbon Pickled Green Beans
2 pounds green beans, tips removed
1 ½ cup distilled white vinegar
1 cup bourbon
½ cup sugar
6 garlic cloves
2 teaspoons coriander seed
1 teaspoon yellow mustard seed
1 teaspoon brown mustard seed
1 teaspoon cumin seed
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
2 bay leaves
Preheat oven to 250 degrees.
1. Place two, clean 16 oz, canning jars, upright on sheet pan. (include cleans unused lids too) They should remain in the oven for a minimum of 30 minutes. Remove from the oven right when you need to use them.
2. Combine vinegar, bourbon, sugar, garlic, coriander seeds, yellow mustard seed, brown mustard seed, cumin seed, red pepper flakes and bay leaves in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil, then simmer 5 minutes.
3. Vertically place as many green beans as you can into warm jars (be careful, the jars will be hot!) . Pour the hot liquid over the green beans, leaving ¼ inch of room at the top, and seal the jar with the lid until snug. Place jars back into the oven for 15 minutes.
4. Upon removing your filled jars from the oven place them on a drying rack overnight at room temperature about 1-inch apart. The jar will seal as they cool.
